Diamond and Precious Stones Recovery
At Gerrards, we use a process involving acids which dissolves the precious metal in your jewellery lots, without damaging the stones. Diamonds and other precious gems can be recovered from gold, silver, platinum and palladium jewellery whilst the precious metal portion is melted and assayed separately.
All stones are then returned, along with payment for your assayed metal.
{ How it works ? }
Processing Time
Precious Stones
Our process works for all precious stones: diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, etc.
It also works for some semi-precious stones such as topazes, citrines, etc.
Important: For softer or treated gems, pearls and opals, these must be removed by a jeweller first as the process could discolour or damage them.
Processing Time
The processing time to recover your precious stones can be between 2 to 4 working weeks.
For platinum jewellery, this process can take longer as platinum is a harder metal and may take longer to dissolve in the acid solution.
Payment
After processing, the metal is recovered, smelted, assayed and valued at the current day price.
You can get paid by BACS, CHAPS, FPS, Cheque or Cash.
The stones can either be collected or sent to you by insured carrier.
